Sample types

  • Blood samples, Adherent cells, Cell suspension, Bacteria/cells (3x10^6), Fecal samples, Tissues, Cell culture media.

Core Requirement

  • Ensure all samples are properly sealed and labeled with clear identification, such as sample ID and date.

Packaging

  • Primary container: Leak-proof, labeled container, such as tubes, vials, or specimen bags.

  • Secondary container: Second leak-proof, impact-resistant container, such as a biohazard bag with absorbent material.

  • Outer packaging: Rigid, protective outer box or container to prevent damage during transit.

Temperature control

  • Ambient (15–25°C): No special controls needed.

  • Refrigerated (2–8°C): Use cold packs to maintain temperature.

  • Frozen (-20°C to -80°C): Use dry ice.

Labelling

  • Clearly mark the package with any required hazard labels (e.g., UN 3373 "Biological Substance, Category B").

  • For dry ice shipments, use UN 1845 "Dry Ice" label and specify the weight of dry ice If using dry ice, label with UN 1845 "Dry Ice" and indicate the weight of dry ice used.
